Reiki Treatments

Reiki, which is more accurately called the "Usui System of Natural Healing", is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation with many benefits. It is a hands-on healing technique, thousands of years old. Reiki can be defined as spiritually guided life force energy with intelligence. This means that Reiki is guiding itself with its own wisdom. It is possible to receive Reiki treatments over a distance for people who are too weak to travel or not in reachable proximity. Prior to a distant Reiki session careful planning and specific guidelines are essential.

For information on sessions see Services. To make an appointment contact Katharina.

Healing and personal growth is a highly individual process. Yet, it is also influenced by cultural factors. Every session takes these collective conditions into account. They are implemented by an evolutionary approach.

Reiki Description

The human organism has the ability to heal itself on all levels. Reiki provides the chance to restore balance and harmony in body, mind, and soul. This is a healing modality that can also be applied to oneself.

It is essential that the client seeking treatment is willing to assume responsibility for his/her own healing process. This includes making a conscious effort to accept the Reiki energy, and adopting a mental attitude of positive thought flow.

During the treatment the Reiki practitioner follows a sequence of hand positions, generally starting at the client's head and ending at the feet. The practitioner may also use certain Reiki symbols to amplify the energy, or to achieve specific effects. Specific objectives may include mental or emotional clearing of energy blockages in the client's subtle body system. Except for shoes the client stays fully clothed.

The practitioner is a container and a channel for the pure Reiki energy from the Source of Truth and Healing. For the energy to begin to flow the practitioner simply needs to ask it to do so. It will flow from the Great Spiri Source, filling up the practitioner's body first. The energy then pools in his/her heart center, flowing down the arms, and through the palms into the person receiving Reiki. Sometimes the Reiki energy also flows through a practitioner's legs, exiting through the soles of the feet. As a container the practitioner provides the energy for the receiver so that it may be for the client's highest good. Since the receiver takes an active role in their own healing process, the practitioner's ego has no part in the process. Even so, the practitioner's energy centers (chakras) need to be as clear as possible to insure the purest, most accepting channel for the Reiki energy. This is where mastery comes into play.

Although quite simple, Reiki is by no means an easy discipline. To keep body, mind, and soul free from negativity is a spiritual path of great power and saintly proficiency. Of course very few of us are perfect. This is quite human and natural. The most important factor in this discipline of Reiki is intention and continuously applied self-effort.

The word "Reiki" originates from two Japanese kanji characters.

Kanji Characters "Rei" means ghost, or universal spiritual wisdom, the development of human life as a source of guidance that is all knowing."Ki" means vapor or life force, the non-physical energy that flows in all things. Reiki is a spiritually guided universal life force energy with intelligence. The most important aspect in working with Reiki is intent

Reiki Training

Reiki channels the life force in a special way. All practitioners need to be initiated so the Reiki energy can resonate, and be appropriately harmonized with their system. This process occurs during the course through the the attunement ritual. These sacred attunemnts are given to students by their Reiki Master teacher. Prior to a Reiki course all students are required to prepare themselves. To find out how to get ready for a Reiki course click here.

Katharina Wehrli, a Reiki Master teacher, trains students individually or in groups. Training levels are Reiki 1, Reiki 2, and Reiki Master. For information on course dates see Events Calendar. For individual instruction see Services.

Reiki 1 Course Description

This course covers the history and origin of Reiki. Students will be attuned to the Reiki 1 symbol. This level of Reiki is mostly concerned with physical healing. Furthermore, participants will learn how to give a full Reiki treatment to self and others.

Reiki 2 Course Description

Participants are attuned to the Reiki 2 symbol, which concentraes on mental and emotional healing . This course also covers distant healing to bridge time and/or space. In addition to the attunement, students will be given this particular symbol. For the practical part of the course practitioners learn how to use the Reiki symbols to tailor the effectiveness of treatments according to indiviudal clients' needs. This includes mental and emotional clearing, and the application of the symbols for distant Reiki.

Requirements for Reiki 2 participants: If you have taken the Reiki 1 course with another Reiki Master, an appointment is required prior to the course. Please bring Reiki 1 Certificate (or a copy) and your first Reiki Master's lineage to the meeting.

Reiki Master Course Description

You will receive your attunement to the Master symbol, and deepen your treatment skills using all symbols. You will also learn how to pass on attunements for Reiki 1, 2 and Master. This includes relaxation techniques and special meditation, Water Ritua,l and Raku Kei Affirmation. Preparation is the same as for Reiki 1 and 2 courses, but the duration is for two weeks instead of one.

Requirements For Reiki Master Course Participation: Students who have received Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 attunements from another Reiki Master need to submit a copy of their certificates as well as their Reiki Master's lineage. An indiviudal meeting is required before taking the Master course.

Preparing for Reiki Training Courses

A Reiki course is different from other courses because of the attunement process. One week prior to an attunement the teacher as well as the students need to prepare by cleansing and purifying body, mind, and soul.

It is also necessary to meditate on and incorporate the five Reiki principles into practical reality. Be aware of how they relate to your daily life, and stay mindful of your actions and behaviors.

Here are several steps you can take to clear body, mind and soul: Do not eat meat unless it's free from antibiotics and hormones that can throw off your glandular system. Reduce or eliminate contact with the media such as watching TV, reading newspaper, or the internet. Avoid stimulants and recreational drugs, and drink no alcohol. Clear yourself from all negativity including feelings of frustration, anger, fear, envy, and so on. Spend quiet time in nature, you may like to go for nature walks, and contemplate soul reality and immortality by experiencing yourself as part of the whole. Meditate daily for twenty minutes to half an hour, or longer if you wish. Harmonize with the subtle things, and let your intuition guide you.

In preparation for Reiki 2 and Master classes practice Reiki sessions on yourself frequently. If you have an opportunity, exchange treatments with another practitioner.

These guidelines may sound like too much for a busy week. Just do your best without exaggeration or guilt. Know that you are about to be initiated into a sacred practice, which requires your crystal clear receptivity.

The Reiki Principles

Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today I will not worry.
Just for today I will not be angry.
Just for today I will do my work honestly.
Just for today I will be kind to my neighbour

and every living thing.
Just for today I respect the Oneness of All Life.
